A prestigious and dignifified temple of the highest order
It was opened by the Cloistered Emperor Kameyama in 1291. It was established by Yoshimitsu Ashikaga as the highest status for Zen temples in Japan. There are many highlights, including a dry landscape garden and modern arched bridge piers.
The photo shows the Three Gates, also known as Tenka Ryumon. In autumn, you can see the temple grounds colored with autumn leaves from the top of the tower.
