The vast garden is surrounded by a green world
It is a sub-temple of Tenryuji Temple. It was built in 1461. It is usually closed to the public and is only open to the public in spring and fall. The megalithic garden is a reproduction of a garden built in the Muromachi period. You can appreciate moss and as many as 300 maples.
Enjoy matcha green tea while looking out over the garden at the “Muian”, built in the Taisho era (500 yen for tea service).
“Shishiku” means Buddha preaching.
“Fuga-sansan sansan-jizai”," a sliding door painting in the main hall, was painted by Western-style painter and muralist Noriko Tamura.
