Shokoku-ji Temple

Temple known for its' singing dragon '

It is the head temple of the Shokoku-ji school of the Rinzai sect, which was completed in 1392 under the order of Yoshimitsu ASHIKAGA. It has 12 sub-temples within the temple grounds, as well as Kinkaku-ji Temple, Ginkaku-ji Temple, and Shinnyo-ji Temple. It is known as the center of Gozan Literature and produced many learned priests. The Jotenkaku Museum, a collection of cultural assets, is located in the temple.
The photo shows "Banryu-zu" (Coiled Dragon) painted by Mitsunobu KANO on the ceiling of the lecture hall. It is known as Narukiryu.
