Japan‘s Oldest Theater
One of the theaters officially recognized by the Tokugawa shogunate, it began operations during the Edo period. After undergoing seismic retrofitting in 2018, it reopened. Kichirei kaomise kogyo, which is usually held at the end of the year, is famous. A distinctive building incorporating Momoyama-style design elements, designated as a National Registered Tangible Cultural Property.
