Kyoto's premier spot for fresh greenery and autumn foliage
Founded in 1198 by Renjo (Kumagai Naozane), a disciple of the great monk Honen. This ancient temple features numerous halls within its expansive grounds, and in 2024, it served as a filming location for a historical drama. The “Maple Approach” beyond the main gate is renowned as a prime spot for viewing autumn foliage.
