The world of kanji, which you can enjoy learning by looking, listening, and touching

This is the first museum in Japan with the theme of familiar kanji. It is a hands-on museum where various surprises and discoveries can be made through exhibitions to touch, learn and enjoy. On the first floor, you can learn about the history of kanji, which has been developed and transformed as a character to write Japanese, through experiential techniques such as images, graphics and hands on. On the second floor, which looks like a theme park, visitors can experience the rich charm of familiar kanji characters through quizzes and games.

  The 'Kanji 50,000 character tower' contains about 50,000 kanji characters that were adopted in the "Daikanwa Jiten" (a dictionary) (published by Daishukan Shoten). You'll find kanji for your name!

  "Kanji of the Year Exhibition" 2024 Late October - 2025 Early February

  All of the original large calligraphic works from 1995, when "This Year's Kanji" was first started, to 2023 are on display. Why don't you follow the changes of the Japanese society with the powerful calligraphy?
  The file includes "Kizuna" for 2011 and "Kin," which has been selected four times so far. The "Kanji of the Year" that reflects the world's aspect of the year are lined up.
