The Ho-o-do hall depicted on the 10-yen coin is famous

In 1052, the villa of the powerful Fujiwara no Michinaga was converted into a temple by his son and chief adviser to the Emperor, Fujiwara no Yorimichi. There are many highlights, including the Ho-o-do hall depicted on the 10-yen coin and a museum housing many national treasures. The Ho-o-do hall features symmetrical wing corridors inspired by the Pure Land of Amitabha. The Hoo-do Hall is open to visitors. Entrance tickets are sold at the precinct reception office. Reception 9: 00 ~ 16: 10 (first-come, first-served basis), and admission is from 9: 30 every 20 minutes for 50 people.
