Hirano-jinja Shrine

平野神社_vol18

Variety of cherry blossoms, some blooming very early and some very late

It is said that the shrine was moved from Nara when the capital was transferred to Heian. The current shrine building was built in the Kanei era (1624 ~ 44) and is called Hirano-zukuri. The main shrine is designated as an Important Cultural Property. It is famous for its early-blooming cherry tree 'Sakigake-zakura,' which is said to have originated from Hirano-jinja Shrine.
