A landmark of Arashiyama where the wooden parapets blend in with the scenery
The bridge was built between 834 and 848 by the monk Dosho and was completed in 1934. The total length is 155 meters, and the piers are made of reinforced concrete, but the parapets are made of cypress, which blends in with the surrounding scenery. It is often used as a location for TV dramas and movies. Togetsukyo's cherry blossom season is usually from late March to early April. The fresh green season is the freshest of the year. The green of the trees is bright and stands out against the blue sky.
It is also fun to use a rental boat.
The bridge was named after the Retired Emperor Kameyama who composed a poem, 'It looks like the moon will cross the bridge on a clear day.'
