An old shrine where the air of the forest from before Christ and the elegance of the city are harmonized
One of the oldest shrines in Kyoto. The origin of the shrine is said to be the peace of Kamotaketsunomi no Mikoto I Tadasu no Mori during the reign of Emperor Jimmu. The Tadasu Forest, preserving primeval woodlands. This sacred forest surrounds the shrine of Shimogamo Shrine. It boasts an area of approximately 36,000 tsubo.
