A museum dedicated to “The Tale of Genji“, loved beyond the millennium.
Opened in 1998. The museum exhibits full-scale reproductions of furnishings and shows original animations to deepen visitors’ understanding of “The Tale of Genji”. The photo shows a restored model of Rokujō-in, the residence where Hikaru Genji and his female companions lived. Even the water flow has been faithfully reproduced.
Heian-no-ma. It reproduces a "glimpse" in which a man outside in the dark sees a woman in a bright room.
The original animation "GENJI FANTASY: A cat fell in love with Hikaru Genji" was based on Murasaki Shikibu's diary.
"Uji no ma". At the theater, you can learn the outline of “Uji Jujo” in about five minutes.
