Tango Chirimen History Museum

丹後ちりめん歴史館 vol18_保証協会

Recognized as a "Japanese Heritage" Tango Chirimen

This is a private museum of Imai Orimono, a silk products company. The museum, which utilizes the site of a former textile factory, exhibits power looms that were actually used onsite and the world's rarest Haccho twisting loom. Visitors can feel the history of Tango crape spun up close. About 400 items, including popular silk scarves, make great souvenirs.
Admission to the Tango Chirimen History Museum is free. The building, with its distinctive saw-toothed triangular roof, is registered as a component cultural property of the Japanese Heritage.
