Izumi Shikibu, a poet, was the fifirst chief priest. Colorful Goshuin is popular.

Seishin-in Temple is said to have started with a hall built by FUJIWARA no Michinaga for Izumi Shikibu, who served her daughter Shoshi. There is also a statue of Amida Nyorai built by Michinaga and statues of Izumi Shikibu and Michinaga.
