奄美の里 vol.9

Good Memory of Kagoshima Trip with Amami Food

Amaminosato, where you can feel the nature and tradition of Amami Islands—located some 380 km south from the main island of Japan—even while you are in Kagoshima City. At Hananka, a restaurant in the premises, you can enjoy Amami’s local dish, Keihan rice (chicken and rice). Feel hospitality hidden in Keihan rice, also known as “Tonosama Ryori”, as they entertained officials of Satsuma Domain with it in Edo Period.

“Shima Jyuri Zen” (1,800yen) is served with Keihan rice, deep-fried fish, Jimami-tofu (peanut tofu) and other Southern Japan food.

Our best-selling “Kurobuta Pork Loin Cutlet Set” (1,950yen). You can enjoy the taste of Kurobuta Pork and Keihan rice at the same time.

The store is decorated with elaborate design of Oshima Tsumugi weave and corallites.

Spend your time relaxing peacefully at a table, in a Japanese-style room, or a private room.

Two Gardens with a Spread of Nature that Varies Seasonally

In the premises of 16,000 tsubo (approx. 52,800 m2), there are two gardens with different styles: “Amami-style Garden”, which revokes primitive forests of Amami Oshima, and; “Michinoshima Garden”, which depicts Amami islands with mixed cultures from different continents. Also, deeply saturated, vivid flowers flourishing in the site make it a space full of southern Japan styles.

Experiencing Contents with Impressive Traditional Beauty and Its Manufacturing Method
