One of the oldest jewelry stores founded by a Kabuki actor
The company was founded in 1813. Kabuki actor Nakamura Utaemon III opened a store selling “Shikanko,” or pomatum oil. The store also sold eyebrow wax, white powder, hairpins, combs, and other products, which became very popular. About 200 years have passed since then. The products they sell have changed with the times, but their approach to women's beauty has never wavered. The company's new brand, “DENSHO,” offers watches, rings, and necklaces designed based on Shochiku's own kumatori. The items, which crystallize Japanese traditions and techniques, are sure to be appreciated as souvenirs of Japan.
