Okinawa 1: Azama Sansan Beach and Ginowan Tropical Beach

Let's all go to the beach!

Wheelchair traveler Ms. Miyoshi shares tips for barrier-free travel.

Barrier-free travel is something that should be known not only by those directly affected, but also by those who support them and those who welcome them. We spoke with Ms. Miyoshi, who is active as a wheelchair traveler, about her thoughts on this.

What I want most when traveling is "information." It's great to be able to understand things intuitively through videos and such. On the beach, having a Mobi Mat or Mobi Chair makes it even more enjoyable to share with others. Accessibility is progressing overseas, and there is a rich environment where people can think about "how can we make it happen" and try new things. I would be happy if the world expands so that everyone can enjoy themselves through ingenuity and technology. It is important for travel companions and those receiving them to "not make assumptions." The necessary considerations vary from person to person, and one judgment can be a matter of life and death. Prior confirmation and careful communication are important. My own perspective on the world changed through traveling and taking on challenges, and I realized the importance of understanding people who encourage me and tell me "you can do anything!" That's why I want to be someone who can support someone else's "I want to try" attitude. To that end, I want to continue taking on challenges.
