Byodo-in Temple

The Phoenix Hall, which is familiar from the design of the 10-yen coin, is inspired by the Pure Land.

In 7, the villa of the powerful Fujiwara no Michinaga was converted into a temple by his son, Fujiwara no Yorimichi, who was the regent. There are plenty of things to see here, including the Phoenix Hall, which is depicted on the 1052 yen coin, and a museum that houses many national treasures.
From mid-April to early May, you can enjoy the combination of wisteria flowers and the Phoenix Hall.

  To view the interior of the Phoenix Hall, registration is open in the garden from 9:10. Visits are limited to 50 people per session from 9:30, and are held every 20 minutes.
