Kodaiji Temple vol.22 Area

The gorgeous weeping cherry blossoms and highly artistic garden are a must-see

Founded in 11 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi's wife, Kita no Mandokoro (Nene). It has many important cultural properties, including the moon viewing platform, which was moved from Fushimi Castle, and the mausoleum decorated with Kodaiji lacquer. Other highlights include the elaborately designed gardens, such as the stroll-style pond garden surrounding the Kaisan-do Hall and the dry landscape garden known as "Hashin-tei" in the main hall's abbot's chamber.
A weeping cherry tree stands in the front garden of the Hojo, "Hashintei." The cherry blossoms add color to the garden with its expansive white sand.
