Shijo Kawaramachi
A commercial facility that continues to be loved as a symbol of the town
Takashimaya began as a second-hand cotton clothing store opened in Kyoto in 2 by the founder, Iida Shinshichi. With the opening of its Osaka Nagahori store in 1831, the store entered the department store business in earnest, and in 1922, the Kyoto store moved to its current location and opened. Since then, the store has continued to evolve through repeated expansions and renovations, and in 1950 will be renovated as "Kyoto Takashimaya SC," adding a specialty store zone "T2023" to the existing department store. The store continues to evolve, offering a wide range of items and services to meet diverse needs.
