Kagoshima Aquarium, with Sakurajima, the symbol of Kagoshima, right in front of you, is one of the largest aquariums in Kyushu, exhibiting about 800 creatures from 1 species that are found in the waters of Kagoshima. There are also plenty of daily events in the aquarium, such as whale shark feeding guides and guided tours by staff.

Kuroshio Large Aquarium

This is the largest tank at Kagoshima Aquarium, and displays the world's largest fish, whale sharks, bonito, and other fish that migrate with the Kuroshio Current. Kagoshima Aquarium releases whale sharks back into the sea when they grow large.

Jellyfish Corridor

The seas of Kagoshima are home to such a wide variety of jellyfish that they are known as a "treasure trove of jellyfish." Jellyfish are exhibited and introduced in a relaxing and soothing space that evokes the underwater world of Kagoshima.

The Sea of the Nansei Islands

The museum exhibits creatures that live around the coral reef islands and the Nansei Islands that spread south of the mainland of Kagoshima Prefecture. Each tank recreates a different underwater environment, mainly around Amami Oshima, and introduces the diverse lives of creatures that live on the coral reefs, including not only colorful fish, but also coral, seaweed, starfish, and sea cucumbers.

Dolphin Performance

This is the most popular event at Kagoshima Aquarium. It is a program that introduces the abilities and ecology of dolphins in a fun way, and allows you to experience what kind of creatures dolphins are. The content is changed every year.

Dolphin Channel (outdoors)

The dolphins at Kagoshima Aquarium swim freely in the "Dolphin Channel," a 300-meter-long channel connecting to Kinko Bay (Kagoshima Bay) in front of the aquarium. The Dolphin Channel is a free zone and easy to enjoy. Depending on the season, in addition to dolphins, schools of sunfish and mahi-mahi are also on display.

Sea of around Kagoshima

This exhibit features creatures that live in the seas around the mainland of Kagoshima Prefecture, mainly in Kinko Bay (Kagoshima Bay). This area is on the border between the subtropics and temperate zones, and is home to a diverse range of environments, including coral reefs.

Deep Sea of Kagoshima

A wide variety of deep-sea creatures from the seas of Kagoshima are on display. These slightly eerie deep-sea creatures, which you would not normally see, allow you to experience an extraordinary world.

Sea Slug Research Institute

Sea slugs are characterized by their beautiful colors and adorable appearances. It is rare to have a permanent exhibit of sea slugs, which are difficult to raise, and Kagoshima Aquarium is the first in Japan to do so. While exhibiting sea slugs, they are also establishing how to raise and breed them.
