There is also a museum where you can learn about the history of shochu and experience the traditional brewing process in earthenware jars.

Two Shochu distilleries are connecting the history

  "Nanako" is an old-fashioned organic sake made with water from Kanmuridake and Japan's oldest yellow koji and yeast.

  "Nariakira no Yume" is a Satsuma Kiriko bottle that features a pattern from the time of Shimazu Nariakira.

  "Satsuma Shochu Kinzangura" with a gorgeous aroma brewed with the legendary golden koji
• 
  Located on the site of the Kushikino Gold Mine, which boasted the largest gold production in Japan, Kinzangura is the only place in Kagoshima where shochu is produced using in-cave storage. Take a trolley tour of the underground mine and see the brewing storehouse and storage facility. Take home shochu made with the legendary golden koji, or sake created to evolve authentic shochu.
